Google finally revealed the new name of Android Q, what is it?

Google finally announced the name of the latest Android known today Android Q. This announcement is quite surprising because the company decided to no longer use the name dessert for Android.

As it is known, until now, Android always uses the name of the dessert and arranged alphabetically. But from this moment on, the naming pattern was officially abandoned.

Quoted from The Verge, Friday (23/8/2019), the latest Android release this year will use the name Android 10. In other words, a mobile operating system that releases next year will be named Android 11 and like so on.

The decision to change this name is not separated from the user's feedback. According to the VP of Product Management Android, Sameer Samat, the use of dessert name for Android turned out to be not always understood by the global community.

He modeled, in several languages, the pronunciation of L and R which is not much different turned out to make the user quite difficult to distinguish the version of Android.

Samat said, it is not uncommon when Android Lollipop's name is pronounced, pretty much people don't know it as KitKat's successor.

"It's harder to for new Android users, who don't know this naming pattern. So, they find it hard to know if the smartphone is running the latest system, "writes Samat.

Some of that, some of the food used for Android's name turned out to be unfamiliar to a number of people. For example, pie does not include dessert in a number of regions and marshmallows are not very popular in many places in the world.

"As a global operating system, it's important to use a name that's clear and understandable to everyone. So, for the next release, Android will be called as Android 10,  "Write Samat explain this change.

Google's decision to change this naming as well as end speculation about the name to be used in Android Q.

Previously, as quoted from The Verge, there were actually several candidate Q snacks beginning to become the official name of Android Q.

The names of these snacks come from all over the world, such as Qurabiya, Quindim, Queen of Puddings, Qottab, Quesito, Queijandinha, Quirks, and Quince.

But with the certainty of this change, the names are no longer used for Android.

According to the information reported by the Android Authority, the reason Google chooses the name of the snack for its operating system solely due to accidental.

Explained by Google spokesperson Randall Sarafa, the concept of the Android operating system with the name of the snack accidentally erupted from Google's internal creative team.

"This happened accidentally, anyway we just suddenly spontaneously triggered the name of the snack. So, each operating system is released we are always looking for the name of the snack alphabetically,  "Sarafa said.
