COVID-19 Cases in Zhejiang China Continue to Soar, Surpassing 1 Million in 24 Hours


Daily cases of COVID-19 in China are still out of control. In recent weeks, the number of daily cases has continued to soar to 1 million new cases.

As in Zhejiang Province. Recorded on Sunday (25/12), the number of daily cases of COVID-19 reached 1 million cases.

"Despite the record spike in cases nationwide, there were no deaths from COVID in the mainland for five days until Saturday," China's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was quoted as saying by Reuters.

Zhejiang is one of the provinces in China experiencing a surge in COVID-19 infections. Most of the new cases are asymptomatic patients.

"The peak of infections is expected to arrive early in Zhejiang and enter a period of increase around New Year's Day, where the number of new infections each day will reach two million," the Zhejiang Government said.

The total population in Zhejiang is 65.4 million. There are currently 13,583 COVID-19 patients admitted to provincial hospitals where one patient has severe symptoms. In addition, there were 242 patients with severe and critical conditions caused by comorbidities.

As a result of this surge in COVID-19 cases, patient visits to fever clinics in Zhejiang reached 408,400 per day, up 14 times the normal rate.
