President Vladimir Putin launched a stealth submarine capable of carrying nuclear-capable missiles, the Kalibre.
The battleship was named after Velikiye Luki.
The stealth submarine was built by Russia at the Admiralty Shipyards plant, which is operated by the government agency United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC).
The super advanced ship was released on Friday (23/12/2022).
Velikiye Luki will strengthen the capabilities of the Russian military, to make it even more unmatched, in the face of a series of Western threats from Moscow's military operations to Kiev.
Citing Tribunnews.com, as reported by the Russia Today report, the Velikiye Luki submarine is the third submarine of the diesel-electric family of the 677 Lada project, capable of autonomous missions for up to 45 days, with a diving depth of 300 meters and a speed of 21 knots or about 39 km per hour when submerged.
Unlike submarines in general, the Velikiye Luki, which is equipped with a set of the most modern diesel-electric tools, can suppress the noise generated from a large multi-bladed propeller.
"With capable capabilities, to date the submarine of this project is recognized as the most modern diesel-electric ship designed for the Russian Navy," said Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Yevtukhov.
In order to facilitate user operation, stealth submarines are completely designed by embedding advanced and autonomous control systems on a number of parts including ship hardware systems, electrical propulsion systems, navigation complexes, and others.
After its release, the nuclear-armed Velikiye Luki submarine is planned to be used by Russia and China to join naval combat exercises, in China's Northeast region from this week to December 27.
In addition to launching stealth submarines, the Russian Ministry of Defense revealed that the country is accelerating the manufacture of two other similar ships, namely the Yaroslavl and Vologda submarines, so that they can undergo tests by the end of December 2022.
